Rountree_Darren_449334I am Travis A. Rountree, Assistant Professor at Western Carolina University I earned my PhD from the University of Louisville, my MA in English from Appalachian State University with a certificate in Appalachian Studies, and my BA in a English from James Madison University with a minor in American Studies. I teach first year composition courses as well as graduate courses in composition and rhetoric. My research interests include archival research, Appalachian rhetorics, place-based pedagogy, and public memory studies.

I hail from Richmond, Virginia, but live in Sylva, North Carolina. I enjoy running, weight lifting, and gardening. I’m an avid fan of old time, bluegrass, and country music, and love living in the mountains of North Carolina with my two cats.
